Three steps of science and education reform in Vietnam in international integration trend

Participating the dialogue were Assoc.Prof. Nguyen Thanh Hai - Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Member of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Chairman of The Committee on Culture, Education, Youth and Children of 13th National Assembly, Head of the Board of petition of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly of Vietnam;  Mr. Nguyen Duc Kien – Vice Chairman of The Committee on Economic Affairs of National Assembly, Chairman of the Germany-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Group; Mr. Pham Dai Duong - Deputy Minister of Ministry of Science and Technology; as well as leaders and former leaders of the National Assembly, ministries, and central agencies; and representatives of foreign embassies in Hanoi.

Opening the dialogue, Prof. Nguyen Van Kim – Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities affirmed that the fourth industrial revolution fourth with the strong development of science and technology, information society, knowledge economy and changes in global value chain globally have been creating new opportunities for Vietnam to integrate fully and effectively into the world economy but also posing many difficulties and challenges as we are a latecomer.
For years Vietnam has always emphasized that education and training, alongside with science and technology is the first national policy and the driving force of the development process, and that investment in education is an investment in development. The science dialogue has goine into deep analysis of the role of science and technology, education and training in the trend of international integration of Vietnam. This is also an opportunity for domestic and internation managers and scholars to share their research results and exchange experiences on topics of mutual interest.
In the framework of the seminar, 12 papers were selected to present from more than 30 papers by domestic and international scientists. These presentations addressed important policy issues and identified vital factors of international integration that have impact on the implementation of science and education today.

Prof. Vu Cao Dam – Chairman of Council of Research and Training, IPAM

In the keynote speech “Science and Education Policy in international integration trend”, Prof. Vu Cao Dam proposed 3 steps for science and education reform in our country.
In detail: Step 1, identifing the current situation of science and education in Vietnam; Step 2, promoting the development in accordance to the popular system of the world, in which science, education and production intertwine organically with each other in an organizational institution;Step 3, integrating into the world educational revolution
The paper “An overview of science, technology and education  policy of Vietnam in international integration trend” of Prof. Nguyen Van Khanh – Former Rector of USSH indicated some major trends of a transforming world and challenges for Vietnam in the process of international integration, etc.  

Assoc. Prof. Dao Thanh Truong speaks at the dialogue 

Mr. Pham Dai Duong - Deputy Minister of Ministry of Science and Technology and Assoc. Prof. Dao Thanh Truong emphasized the existing problems of science, techonology and innovation in Vietnam. The two scientists proposed establishing the relationship between training - research - production, in which effectively promoting the role of related parties and paying attention to the problems of international integration.
